A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use Image Compressor

  1. Choose or drop a still JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
  2. Choose WebP or JPG output and adjust the quality. The default is WebP at 80% quality, with the original pixel dimensions.
  3. Select Compress image. Compare the preview and actual file size, then download the result.

What is Image Compressor?

Image compression can reduce the storage needed for a picture by encoding its pixels with fewer details. This tool exports a JPG or WebP image at your chosen quality without resizing it. A lower quality setting usually gives a smaller file but can introduce visible artifacts. PNG input is converted to the selected output format rather than optimized as a lossless PNG.

  • WebP or JPG output with a 1–100% quality control
  • Original pixel dimensions retained
  • Actual before-and-after sizes and percentage change
  • Local previews and downloads without an account

Supported images and limits

Choose one still JPG, PNG, or WebP image at a time. Each file can be up to 20 MiB, with no more than 25 million pixels and no side longer than 8192 pixels. Animated PNG and WebP files are rejected, as are GIF, SVG, HEIC, and other unsupported formats. Available memory and export support can impose additional limits on your browser or device.

Local processing and exported files

Your image is read and processed on this device. ADEMN does not upload it, store an image history, or include its contents, filename, or dimensions in tool analytics. Replacing the image, resetting the tool, or leaving the page releases the workspace's image resources; downloaded files remain wherever you saved them.

The tool creates a new image from the decoded pixels. Photos are decoded using their stored orientation, and the original EXIF metadata is not copied into the result. Encoding, color handling, and output size can vary by browser. JPG output fills transparent regions with white; PNG and WebP output preserve transparency.

A practical example

INPUT
A 1600 × 1200 PNG image
Output: WebP · Quality: 80%
RESULT
A 1600 × 1200 WebP image
Actual file size and change shown after processing; savings depend on the image.

Frequently asked questions

Will every image become smaller?

No. An already optimized image can become larger when re-encoded. The result reports the actual change, including increases. Try a lower quality or a different output format if needed; there is no guaranteed size or target-size mode.

Can I compress a PNG without changing its format?

This compressor exports WebP or JPG, so PNG input changes format. WebP can preserve transparent regions; JPG fills them with white. Use Image Converter for PNG output, which uses lossless encoding and may produce a larger file.

Does quality 100 mean lossless compression?

No. The quality scale controls the browser's lossy JPG or WebP encoder. Even at 100, it does not promise a lossless copy, the original metadata, or identical bytes.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Image selection, compression, previews, and download generation happen in your browser. Images are not saved by ADEMN, and their filenames, dimensions, and contents are excluded from tool analytics.
